xHarbour Required tools for Linux
Your Linux distribution should contain all necessary tools to
build xHarbour. If they have been not installed yet in your system
then please look for make, gcc, binutils, bison and ncurses-devel.
If you have XFree86-devel (xorg-x11-devel) then additional X11 screen
drivers GTXVT and GTXWC will be created. xHarbour ODBC library will be
built on Linux if unixODBC is installed.
xHarbour can also use slang and GPM but remember that these tools
have more restricted license. If you want to build xHarbour compiler
to create commercial closed source programs then before you run
make_gnu.sh set environment variable HB_COMMERCE to "yes", f.e.:
export HB_COMMERCE=yes
If you have Internet access and use RPM based distribution then you
can also run the following script:
xhbgtmk.sh
which checks you have all tools to build xHarbour binaries installed then
takes current xHarbour sources from SourceForge CVS and build binary RPMs.
We strongly suggest to run build process from non-root account.
